Aldo Torres-Ortiz, MD joined Balboa Nephrology January 2026. He is a board-certified nephrologist and internist with extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic kidney disease, hypertension, electrolyte disorders, and renal replacement therapies. In addition, he provides comprehensive, evidence-based care. He also maintains a strong focus on patient education and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Dr. Torres-Ortiz completed his medical degree with honors at the Universidad de Guadalajara in Mexico. Afterwards, he completed Internal Medicine training in both Mexico and the United States. He completed fellowship training in Nephrology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He also trained at Ochsner Medical Center. Furthermore, he is dual board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology.
Prior to joining Balboa Nephrology Medical Group, Dr. Torres-Ortiz served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine in Internal Medicine and Nephrology at Tulane University and practiced at University Medical Center New Orleans, where he also held the role of Medical Director of Nephrology and Dialysis at University Medical Center New Orleans. His academic work included supervising residents and fellows, delivering lectures, and participating in quality and administrative initiatives.
Dr. Torres-Ortiz has an extensive research background with numerous peer-reviewed publications and national conference presentations in nephrology and internal medicine. He remains actively engaged in scholarly activity. Additionally, he serves as a reviewer for medical journals.
