Honoring Our Heroes: Understanding Veterans Day and Memorial Day

by | Nov 11, 2024 | Holiday

In a nation built on freedom and sacrifice, it’s crucial to understand the significance of Veterans Day and Memorial Day. While both holidays honor those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, their focus differs.

Veterans Day is a day to thank all who have served honorably, both living and deceased. It’s a time to acknowledge their sacrifices and contributions to our nation’s security.

Memorial Day is specifically dedicated to honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice: those who died while serving in the U.S. military. It’s a solemn day of remembrance for our fallen heroes.

By understanding and honoring these important days, we show our respect for those who have served and sacrificed for our country.

Supporting Our Veterans’ Health

Recently, The American Kidney Fund (AKF) and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) hosted a valuable webinar focused on the unique challenges faced by Veterans with kidney disease. The webinar delved into:

  • Mental health challenges commonly experienced by Veterans with kidney disease
  • Social factors that can impact access to care
  • Available resources to ease the burdens of transplant and dialysis

This collaboration between AKF and VA is a significant step forward in ensuring that our Veterans receive the care and support they need. By working together, we can empower Veterans to live healthier, happier lives.
