An Important Message From the Balboa United CovER Department:
Medicare Open Enrollment 2023 is here! The Annual Election Period (AEP) for Medicare is here from October 15th to December 7th every year. During this time, people have the option to make changes to their coverage. You can choose to join a Medicare Advantage plan or a Prescription Drug Plan, switch from your current drug plan to a different prescription drug plan, drop your prescription drug coverage, switch Medicare Advantage plans, switch your Medicare Advantage plan to Original Medicare, or make no changes at all.
It’s highly recommended that you review your medical coverage, medication coverage, and network of medical providers to ensure you have the best possible coverage for your needs. Even if you’re satisfied with your current plan, it’s crucial to ensure that your benefits have remained the same. Taking the time to review options can help you make informed decisions and choose the best plan to provide yourself with the coverage you need.
It’s also important to be aware of unethical practices by some brokers and agencies that patients may encounter. This is because methods such as broker cold calls, commercials featuring celebrities such as Joe Namath, and mailers in Medicare colors are common during this period and can mislead patients into believing they are working directly with Medicare or receiving advice from them. Often times changes to a patient’s coverage are made from one conversation and the patient is unaware until the next time they try (and are unable) to see their doctors. Therefore, it’s suggested to ignore these methods and contact Balboa United’s CovER Department or your existing agent if you already have one.
