Being diagnosed with kidney disease – also known as the “silent disease” – is overwhelming. At a certain stage of kidney disease, it is common for patients to consider dialysis and transplantation – a complete lifestyle change that can be extremely stressful and depressing.
Last May in support of National Mental Health Awareness, Dr. Bijal Patel, CEO of Balboa Nephrology, participated in a webinar called Kidney Conversations with ReMend. The topic was Mental Health & Its Effects on Chronic Illness and along with Lupe Rodriguez, Director of Holistic Addiction Services at Spark Center for Self Development had an open and frank conversation about mental health and the possibility of recovering from depression.
