A Proclamation on National Donate Life Month

A Proclamation on National Donate Life Month

by | Apr 1, 2023 | National Days, Patient Advocacy

“More than 400,000 Americans in every corner of our country are alive today thanks to the tremendous generosity and courage of organ donors.  During National Donate Life Month, we honor donors and their families who have turned pain into purpose by sharing the gift of life with loved ones in need or countless others whom they have never met. We encourage everyone to follow their lead and register as an organ, eye, tissue, or bone marrow donor, bringing hope and healing to so many others.”

April is National Donate Life Month and its purpose is to encourage people just like you to register as organ, eye, and tissue donors and to honor those that have saved lives through the gift of donation. The statement above is a Proclamation from the White House made March 31, 2023.  We hope you’ll be able to take a quiet moment to read the full announcement.

Balboa Nephrology was honored to participate in the 2022 Transplant Games here in San Diego this past July.  We encouraged attendees to share their transplant stories.  We were concerned people may not want to bring up their experiences of profound loss or the challenging times in their life.  It was quite the opposite.  So many wanted to help others by sharing their story.    We’ve compiled many of their stories along with amazing video from those who shared their story.

This month we ask that you share YOUR story by visiting our page #ISharedMyStory on our website.

More than 100,000 people, including 1,900 children, are currently on the waiting list.  A majority of them are people of color, for whom it can sometimes be more difficult to find a good donor match. Please consider organ donation and help bring hope and healing to others.  Register today by visiting Donate Life or LifeSharing.
