The SSA’s Extra Help program, which helps with Medicare Part D costs, has raised its income limits for 2024. This program can help cover your monthly premium, deductible, and prescription drug costs.
Check if you qualify:
- Income: Your income must be at or below 150% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL).
- Resources: Assets must be under $17,220 for individuals or $34,360 for couples (excluding burial plots and funds).
- Medicare Part D: You must be enrolled in a Medicare prescription drug plan.
Full benefits now available!
Previously, there was a partial benefit level. Now, everyone who qualifies receives full benefits.
How to apply:
- Visit https://secure.ssa.gov/i1020/Ee001View.action
- Gather documents like bank statements, tax returns, and retirement account information.
- Call Social Security at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778) for help.
Additional benefits:
- If you qualify for Medicaid, you automatically qualify for Extra Help.
- Qualifying for Extra Help allows you to change your Medicare plan during a special enrollment period (once per quarter for the first 9 months of the year).
